Any traditional Catholic with a complete high
school education may apply to St. Mary’s College. Admission is based on the
applicant’s academic record, evidence of ability to do college work,
character, interest in the goals of the College, and the desire to study
diligently. Admission is independent of race, sex, age, or national or
ethnic origin. Applicants are generally notified of acceptance within two
weeks after completion of application procedures. Our program requires
full-time enrollment.
Application for Admission
The prospective student should:
1. Request an application form from the Office of Admissions, St. Mary’s
College, St. Mary’s, Kansas 66536.
2. Complete the application form and the essay it describes. Return these
with a twenty-five dollar ($25.00) application fee to the Office of
Admissions. No application for admission will be considered until this fee
has been paid. This fee is not refundable and is not applied to other
college fees. However, any student drawing Veterans Affairs benefits who
pays the admission fee and who later decides not to enroll, will receive all
but $10.00 back. 3. Request his high school to send an official transcript of credits to the
Office of Admissions at St. Mary’s College, with evidence of high school
graduation. 4. Submit College Board Scholastic Aptitude Test (SAT) or American College
Test (ACT) scores. These are usually, though not always, included on the
high school grade transcript. 5. Arrange to have two letters of recommendation sent to the College. The
first one, testifying to the applicant’s religious or moral integrity, is
usually written by a priest who knows the applicant. The second one,
testifying to the student’s academic competence, is written by a former
teacher of the applicant. 6. Complete the medical form that gives information about medical history,
immunizations, and evidence of current physical and dental examinations.
Good mental and physical health is an essential requirement.
7. Read and sign the Rules and Decorum observed at St. Mary’s College.
These are guidelines similar to those found in the fine Catholic colleges
of the recent past. Our students must be willing to discipline themselves
in their pursuit to be Christians with ideals, convictions, and courage.
Transfer Credit PolicyAny student who is
interested in transferring credits should request that an official academic
transcript from the college attended be forwarded directly to St. Mary’s
College. Only courses whose content is equivalent to that required by the
programs at St. Mary’s College will be considered for transfer credit. The
course must have an earned grade of C or better. Expenses

Our tuition is extremely low, compared to that of other private colleges.
We keep it realistically modest to allow students of average means the
opportunity to attend. Moreover, to help students meet their financial
responsibilities, a monthly payment plan for tuition, room, and board is
available.
The application fee is non-refundable. The College provides
the required textbooks for each course. Most of the books become the
student’s property; however, books that are out of print and difficult to
obtain are lent to students for the duration of the course.
Financial Aid
St. Mary’s College does not offer financial aid. In order to
remain completely free in carrying out its educational mission, the College
does not accept federal financial aid. In some particular cases a reduction
of tuition may be obtained by working on campus, depending on the
availability of these jobs.
However, to reward the pursuit of excellence, students may
reduce their tuition for the following semester by earning good grades. For
each A that is earned in courses of at least two semester hours, the next
semester’s tuition will be reduced ten percent. If a student earns two A’s,
there will be a twenty percent reduction, and so forth. This will apply to
all semesters after the first semester, with no refund after the fourth
semester.
Withdrawal and Refunds
In the event of student withdrawal, tuition, room, and board
charges are refunded on a pro rata basis.
