Hundreds lined Bertrand Street in the midst of a winter storm to pray for the end of the atrocity of abortion.

ST. MARY’S - For the seventh year in a row, hundreds of kneeling Catholics lined Bertrand Ave in St. Mary’s to pray 15 decades of the rosary for the end of abortion. The Pro-Life Rosary, held every year on January 22nd, the anniversary of Roe v. Wade, was organized by about 60 volunteers from Acies, St. Mary’s Catholic Action group, and led by Fr. James Torzala, Acies’ chaplain.

Organizers were concerned about attendance when, in the hours before the event, snow and freezing rain made driving conditions difficult. Despite that, according to Acies volunteer Danielle Grieco, hundreds of families from around the area still came to pray and sacrifice for the end of abortion. “Even with the weather being what it was - Maple Hill PD were telling people that weather conditions were such that they should not venture to leave their homes - notwithstanding that fact, we had roughly 900!”

Isaiah Gutierrez, another Acies volunteer, agreed the event was a big success despite the weather. “Each decade Father would remind us to renew our intentions and not waste our time and pain by complaining, but offer up these pains to our Lord in reparation for the sins of abortion. Everything went smoothly and this was the smoothest Pro-Life Rosary St. Mary’s has ever had.”
