Sacred Heart Sodality Gala Auction Raises $26,000 for the Sisters of the SSPX

Thanks to the ladies of the Sacred Heart Sodality, as well as the generosity of 150 participants, the November silent and live auction gala was a tremendous success.  Proceeds from the gala totaled over $22,000 for St Mary’s Academy and College, and $26,000 for the Sisters’ convent repair projects, this year’s initiative during the auction’s “Fund-a-Need” segment when benefactors can enjoy giving without purchasing anything. Every year the ladies of the sodality and volunteers solicit businesses and individuals for donations and items to auction as part of a parish social, an evening of delicious hors d'oeuvres and beverages, with the excitement of professionally managed bidding for an array of items.  Among many items offered were several trip packages, a dinner and scotch tasting with Fr. Rutledge, art works, a rifle, and an infrared sauna.  Pleased with the outcome this year, organizer Megan Skees hopes to see the gala continue to blossom as “a real enjoyable social event, an evening of energy and excitement, fun for all,” attracting ever more parishioners and guests.
