The SSPX's Argentinian Seminary Newsletter Welcomes Nine New Seminarians This Year

Source: District of the USA

Below is the introduction from the latest seminary newsletter signed by Fr. Davide Pagliarani, Rector, following the 30 days of Ignatian spiritual exercises and the start of the new academic year, which sees a great number of young men dedicating their futures, lives, and souls to become an Alter Christus in their own way.

Ad Majoriam Dei Gloriam: Newsletter 97

After 30 days of Ignatian spiritual exercises, there could not be a better title for our newsletter than the Ignatian motto: Ad Majorem Dei Gloriam (for the greater glory of God).

Creation has been made for this end. This is the end for which we have been given existence; and this is the end of our continued work of priestly training. As it is stated in the Principle and Foundation of the Exercises: “Man is created to praise, reverence and serve God our Lord, and by this means to save his soul”.

St Augustine adds: “Still he desires to praise Thee, this man who is only a small part of Thy creation. Thou hast prompted him, that he should delight to praise Thee, for Thou hast made us for Thyself and restless is our heart until it comes to rest in Thee”.

But humility before the will of God, a wise and loving Father, is also the glory of every creature, and that which more powerfully lifts it towards the heights of Paradise. We are to follow constantly the example of our Blessed Lady, who by Her humility and obedience deserved to be the Mother of God and Queen of the universe.

And, since consecrated souls must offer up their lives as a perpetual oblation for the greater glory of God, we owe to H.E. Abp. Lefebvre a most heartfelt gratitude for having enriched our Society with the excellent practice of the Ignatian retreats, themselves recommended by the Popes as a perfect method of spiritual recollection.

These same Exercises, in a 5-day abbreviated fashion, are annually preached to laymen in almost every one of our Priories. We encourage everyone who can attend to do so, being as we are sure that they will find in them a most powerful incentive for their spiritual lives and for a more intimate and trusting union with God.

At last, also for His greater glory are the many vocations we received in this year. The Sacred Heart has heard your prayers, dear friends, and has sent 22 young men: 7 for the year of Spirituality, 3 postulants for Brother, and 12 for the Humanities’ year. The community has now members coming from Argentina, Brazil, Chile, Colombia, Dominican Republic, France, Guatemala, Mexico, and Paraguay.

May our Lord grant us through His Holy Cross all the graces we need to orient ourselves more fully towards our eternal end, which begins even in this life by seeking in everything the greater glory of God.

May God bless you.

Father Davide Pagliarani, Rector
